- Today we’ll do a shared reading, map and primary source analysis, and answer text-based questions on the first page, Three Hellenistic Kingdoms, to examine how Alexander’s empire was divided into three kingdoms after his death.

Objective: Students will examine the uniform system of trade that developed throughout the Hellenistic kingdoms, with a common language, culture, and coinage. Students will design their own currency in Seesaw.

- Go to the second page of the lesson called Government and Economy.
- Discuss: What made trade throughout the Hellenistic region a uniform system of trade?
- Now click on the Seesaw picture to the right to go to your assignment in Seesaw.
- In Seesaw, record yourself reading the short summary about money in the Hellenistic period. Do not skip this step.
- Activity: You will design your own currency. In your design, consider things like appearance, where it will be used, and how easy it is to print or make. Share your design with the rest of the class. You can draw directly onto Seesaw or upload a picture of your currency drawing.
