OBJECTIVE:
Students will identify the central ideas and laws of Judaism, which are contained in sacred texts such as the Torah. |

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Go to Google Classroom and open the assignment called Jewish Beliefs and Texts.
- Review vocabulary and main ideas.
- Review all questions we’ll need to answer in this text prior to shared reading.
- Shared reading and text-based questions.
All questions that need to be answered are highlighted. Don’t miss any highlighted parts! - Most of our time will be spent on the Challenge Activity! Your story needs to be at least 15 sentences long! Spend a few minutes thinking about and drafting a beginning, middle, and end to your story. We will continue working on the story on Thursday, so it’s okay if you don’t finish it today (though, you WILL need to turn in your story in class on Thursday).
TUESDAY, MARCH 2

Module 7 Lesson 2: Jewish Beliefs and Texts (HMH) |
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Go to HMH and open the lesson called Module 7 Lesson 2: Jewish Beliefs and Texts.
- While I take attendance do the first page “If you were there…”
- Consider YOUR belief: why you hold it; where you learned it; the basis for your belief. Now consider your NEIGHBOR’s beliefs: how they differ from yours; why he holds them; the basis for those beliefs.
- Go to Google Classroom and open the assignment called Jewish Beliefs & Texts Graphic Organizer. We will use this doc throughout the week, so do not turn it in today. As we read the next page in HMH, we will identify the main ideas and events on the graphic organizer under the Central Beliefs column.
- On the next page, Jewish Beliefs Anchor Their Society: shared reading on Jewish beliefs, including the primary source Jewish Dietary Rules.
Analyze primary source: What are three examples of living creatures that the Bible prohibits Jewish people from eating?

- Go to HMH and open the lesson called Module 7 Lesson 2: Jewish Beliefs and Texts.
- Today we’ll read Texts List Jewish Beliefs and Scrolls Reveal Past Beliefs.
- Go to Google Classroom and open the assignment called Jewish Beliefs & Texts Graphic Organizer. We will use this doc throughout the week, so do not turn it in today. As we read the next page in HMH, we will identify the main ideas and events on the graphic organizer under the Sacred Texts and Dead Sea Scrolls columns.
THURSDAY, MARCH 4
OBJECTIVE:
Students will draw inferences from primary and secondary sources to write a narrative about a modern-day talmud and verbally record their story on Seesaw. |

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Go to Google Classroom and open the assignment called Jewish Beliefs and Texts. This is the assignment we did on Monday.
- Now go to today’s agenda on my Weebly, and click on the Seesaw image. This will take you to your Seesaw assignment.
- Read/listen/watch the instructions on the assignment. I will show you an example.
- You will be finishing your narrative (story) that you started on Monday.
