Complete the title and introduction paragraph of the Argumentative Essay assignment in No Red Ink. |
IMPORTANT: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR THESIS SENTENCE COMPLETE FROM LAST WEEK BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH. SO SOME WILL HAVE TO FINISH THAT FIRST AND COMPLETE THEIR INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH IN TUTORING OR FOR HOMEWORK.

- Briefly remind students to complete The Giver Chp. 9-11 reading and Google class questions along with their 3 unfamiliar words, a synonym for each word, and the page number.
- Discuss the Objective: Constructing an introduction paragraph that grabs the reader’s attention and reveals what the essay will be about.
- Review the form “Create an Interesting Hook - Introduction Paragraph Examples”. Open the file down below on “Create an Interesting Hook - Introduction Paragraph Examples” to use for your notes and examples as shown in the video.
- Go to the assignment entitled Argumentative Essay in No Red Ink. Only complete the title and introduction paragraph. Do not do the other paragraphs.
- But in order to submit on No Red Ink, you will have to type something in all the boxes. Just type your name in each box. You may even have to add a box which we will review in class but it’s very easy to use. Click the submit button when ready to submit. Come to tutoring if any issues with submitting.
- You will want to check back to see any notes in your writing as this will be returned to you to make any changes and to be ready to do next week’s paragraph. I will let you know if and when your Introduction Paragraph is complete, as well as if you need to come to tutoring to review and work on.

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST COMPLETE THE GIVER CHP. 9-11 READING OR YOUR WILL NOT BE PREPARED FOR THIS CLASSWORK. THIS MEANS YOU WILL SCORE A 0 ON THE CLASSWORK AND YOU WILL HAVE TO DO YOUR GIVER READING IN CLASS WHILE THE REST WORK ON THIS INTERESTING SURVEY ASSIGNMENT.

- Go to Google Class. Go to classwork.
- Select “Censorship and Free Speech”
- We will review each question and paragraphs together. Try not to rush ahead as we will discuss some of your responses as we go along. Sometimes I will just ask for hand raises for which way you responded and sometimes I will call on some to discuss, and sometimes I will ask for volunteers to share.
- Listen to others as they answer. Be prepared to provide your response and discuss here and there during this activity.
