MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8
OBJECTIVE:
Identify components of a complete sentence and differentiate between a sentence and fragment. Build knowledge of grade appropriate vocabulary words. |
DUE:
Sentence or Fragments Practice located in No Red Ink due today. Week 5 Vocabulary in Google class due Thursday, February 9th. My Lyric Poem in Google class due Friday 2/12. |
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Go to Clever. Then go to No Red Ink.
- We will review the Sentence or Fragments practice. I will do some examples. I will call on some to work some out, and you will do some on your own and ask for help as necessary. You will finish any for homework that you do not complete in class. (First 20 Min)
- If you completed Sentence or Fragments Practice or passed the Sentence or Fragments quiz from two weeks ago, you may begin working on your lyric poem. Please read the directions closely. This assignment is located in Google class under Lyric Poem. (First 20 Min)
- Go to Google class. Open Week 5 Vocabulary. Review the weekly vocabulary list definitions. (5 Min)
- Look up synonyms and pictures. Write down your synonym and insert your picture in the space next to the definition. (15 Min)
- Share a synonym for each word with your reading partner. I will tell you who your reading partner is. Write down their name. You will share one word at a time after I read the vocabulary word and then say share your synonym. (10 Min)
- Let me know if your reading partner does not share their synonym with you when I ask you to share. I will ask them to type out a list that they will then have to send directly to me and Ms. Torres, or they will receive a phone call home.
- *Do not chat about anything else, or I will have to close the chat. Please let me know if anyone is disrupting you in the chat when I have it open to share.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9
OBJECTIVE:
Be able to identify personification and understand the meaning of personification used in literature. |

INSTRUCTIONS:

- We will work out as many of these as we can in 15 minutes. Be ready for me to call on you or type in the chat box.
- Go to Google Class. Select Personification Practice Whole Group on Google class.
- We will review this practice together. Try on your own first, then we will go over the questions.
- Submit the Personification Practice Whole Group quiz after we review together.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10
OBJECTIVE:
Be able to comprehend test question vocabulary, cite evidence for support, and use weekly vocabulary in conversation. |

Practice test questions checked on GoGuardian. Turn N’ Talk participation. |
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Follow my instructions and watch me as I show you where to go.
- Click the following link. https://login1.cloud1.tds.airast.org/student/V508/Pages/LoginShell.aspx?c=California_PT
- Keep it ON Guest User and Guest Session. Simply click Sign in at the bottom.
- Select 6th grade. Then on the next page, select the top left box which shows: Start 6th Grade ELA Practice Test.
- Click Select on the next page.
- Click the play button, then click I could play sound if you could. If you can’t, you need to have a parent or guardian take you down to the school to have your computer checked. You can borrow headphones from the school as well.
- Click Continue
- Click begin test now. I will be monitoring GoGuardian. Do not be on any other tabs.
- We will read through the passage “Eureka” together.
- We will then go question-by-question together.
- You will highlight key parts of the questions. I will call on people to ask what they highlighted and why as well as answers they chose and why. Be ready to explain and show support for your response.
- You will go to the passage to highlight information that best helps answer the question. Do not just highlight any information. Only highlight what will help answer each question as we go through them.
- Write down your answer choice on paper, as this will not save on the Guest session. We will only do the first 3 (or work for 30 min max). We will finish this article and the questions next week.
- Go to Google class and open the Week 5 Turn N’ Talk. We will go through these, and I will call on people to provide answers out loud. I will ask everyone to say an answer to themself at home (on mute). But then I will call on three people right after. You must be ready with your response. This will show me you are all practicing at home if you show you are ready at any time.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11
OBJECTIVE:
Use analysis and critical thinking to identify and understand personification. |
DUE (By end of class):
Take the Google quiz entitled: Personification Personal Quiz. |
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Take 5 minutes to review your Personification Whole Group Practice and any poetry notes.
- Go to Google class. Take the Personification Personal Quiz. You may not use your notes on the quiz. You may not open any other tabs or look up any information for help. This must be complete during this class period.
- When completed with your quiz, finish your Lyric Poem, Week 5 Vocabulary synonyms and pictures, and Sentence and Fragments Practice.
- Remember to check your Lyric for revision notes after turning it in. It will only be marked complete and graded in Illuminate when you see a grade of 4.
