MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1
OBJECTIVE:
Understand and identify the main components of figurative language. Comprehend the deeper or hidden meaning within figurative language. |
DUE:
No work due today other than participation. |
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Briefly review the Poem Basics quiz from Thursday. Take any questions students may still have.
- Some of you received a 4 on your Limerick if all revisions were complete. If you did not create and turn in a Limerick, you received a 0 in Illuminate. You will have to come this Friday to turn in late now. For those who turned in their Limerick and have revisions, for now, your grade is left blank in Illuminate. If you make the revisions by Friday, you will then have a 4. If you do not make your revisions, you will receive a 1 or a 2 in Illuminate depending on how close you were to completing the Limerick with correct formatting. Please make sure to check your limerick each night you submit to see if any more revisions are necessary.
- You have two personal quizzes this Thursday, February 4th. One will be on Similes and one will be on Metaphors. Make sure to study your terms and pay close attention in class and participate.
- Review the Figurative Language powerpoint. I will play it from my end. You do not have to open it right now. But there is also a Poetry Figurative Language file for your notes and quick reference. We will use these over the next month as we complete our Poetry unit. Use either of these as needed to study. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1mQVIYlAgePWUeP4Ne_w5Nwb5IbpKyQJ2?usp=sharing
- Students respond verbally or in chat to check-for-understanding questions throughout the Figurative Language powerpoint.
- If any extra time, read some of the students’ limericks who are fully complete. Other students can work on revisions after that.
