OBJECTIVE: Understand how to identify main ideas in literary text and demonstrate citing main ideas in literary text. Literary basically means told more in a story format. It could be a true of made up story.

1) Review this short video on “Identifying Key Details and Main Ideas” in Literary Text. This will also show you how to use CommonLit for today. You will have questions on your Google doc to prove you watched all of this video. So you must watch this. It is for your benefit to do so and improve in reading. Use this link for the video:

2) Use the PDF, located above the directions, entitled “Main Idea Literary Text” as seen in the video.
3) Read the short fictional story “The Anklet” at this link. If you it asks you to sign in, choose Sign in with Google. Your Google Class will already be linked so it should be easy to find the story here. Go through this link:

4) Sign into your ELA Google class.
5) Select Classwork at the top and complete the quiz entitled, “Literary Main Idea Practice - The Anklet.”
6) Keep in mind, if you score a 1 or 2, you will need to come to tutoring to do practice. But you can raise your grade by coming to tutoring and doing more practice. If you score a 3, it is optional to come to tutoring, but you can raise your grade as well by doing more practice and demonstrating proficiency.
