- Do I understand how to use my third focus point and turn it into my topic sentence?
- Am I able to structure my focus point (body) paragraph with a topic sentence, 3 supporting details, and citing 3 sentences of text evidence to support each detail?
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Go to Writeable. Open the Informative Performance Task Part 2.
- Look at your main topic sentence in your Introduction paragraph. Look at the third Focus Point.
- Open up the Google class document: Informative Focus Point 3 Paragraph Outline - GC. It is very important that you are developing an outline on any essay you do whether on a state test or not. You need to organize your thoughts and the structure. Please remember to outline your essay before doing a Part 2 Performance Task.
- Now try to develop a topic sentence for the third focus point (body) paragraph. We will use one student’s topic sentence and all will copy.
- Now let’s work through the outline to build this third body paragraph. We need at least 2 supporting details, but we will try for 3 supporting details and each detail needs at least one text evidence sentence to support that detail.
- Develop a conclusion sentence.
- We will all create the same body paragraph outline. You are using this for your notes in order to know how to successfully write an informative essay.

Objective: Develop a memorable conclusion paragraph that summarizes the main point of your essay and leaves the reader with something to remember and think about.
Due: Copy your outline sentences into Writeable Informative Performance Task Part 2. Write the conclusion sentence to finish the essay. (Writeable)

- Go to HMH. Go to your Dashboard. Select Writeable. Launch Writeable.
- Click on the assignment: 6th Grade Informative Performance Task Part 2.
- Open Informative Focus Point 1 Outline (in Google). Copy each line that we filled in and paste in Writable. Make sure your first Focus Point 1 paragraph is indented.
- Open Informative Focus Point 2 Outline (in Google). Copy each line that we filled in and paste in Writable. Make sure your first Focus Point 2 paragraph is indented.
- Open Informative Focus Point 3 Outline (in Google). Copy each line that we filled in and paste in writable. Make sure your first Focus Point 3 paragraph is indented.
- Now we will develop a Conclusion Paragraph. Look at the full Informative Essay Outline again by clicking this LINK.
- We will build our Conclusion paragraph together following the steps on the Informative Essay Checklist
- Now let’s look over each part of the Informative Essay Checklist with your complete Informative Essay in Writeable. We will review so you can see that everything is here.
